About me
I have worked as a guide and fixer for around 10 years.
I speak Hindi and English, and studied History at University.
The experience and understanding of western cultures I have gained on my travels outside India help me to provide a high quality service with a great ease of communication.
Where do I work?
I work mainly in and around the ancient city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradsesh in the North of India. This is where I grew up so I know the area like the back of my hand.
I also work in other regions of India. For example, two recent projects were with photographers in Ladakh and Rajasthan.
As Professional Fixer...
I'm most happy supporting journalists, photographers and film-makers.
I've been doing this for many years so I know what makes these kinds of projects successful.
Who do I work for?
I've worked with many different professional photographers (see Clients page) and companies (eg Fujifilm). Some have particular subjects or regions they are interested in; some need my help to run workshops in and around Varanasi.
For example: in 2019 I'm helping Matt Brandon and Piet Van den Eynde run a photography lighting masterclass.
What can I do for you?
As I grew up around Varansi, I have good ties with the local community, so I can arrange excellent shooting set-ups and subjects for a wide variety of interests.
Due to my extended experience working with photographers, I understand quite a lot about the craft and what I can do to help provide for a successful project.
I can also help with logistics. This can include travel logistics as I work closely with a local travel agent and
Some of my most requested subjects are:
- real Sadhu’s and Aghori (holy men who eat dead human bodies)
- Naga Baba (holy men who live without clothing)
- Varanasi Wrestling Schools
- shoots at the Flower Bazar
- the traditional laundry place (Dhobi Ghat)
- the Manikarna Burning Ghat.

As Professional Guide...
I can provide guide services for individuals or groups, who want to explore the normal or extraordinary areas of life in Varanasi. I can work with you for a few hours or a few days.

Other activities
I am also involved in local charities that help the Dalit, the lowest Caste who also called untouchables in India, and I can show you around local villages if you are interested in these less glamorous aspects of life in India.
